Healthy Kids Check
A complete check of your child’s growth, development and wellbeing at age three.
From 1 November 2026, a new Healthy Kids Check for three-year-olds has been introduced as part of the Australian Government’s Thriving Kids initiative. Carried out by your FTMC GP and Nurse, the check looks at your child’s physical, social and emotional development, along with their overall health and wellbeing. The assessment covers growth and physical health, plus developmental screening that includes eyesight, hearing, oral health, speech, physical activity, nutrition, sleep and toileting habits.
The appointment is also a chance for parents to raise any concerns about their child’s growth, development or behaviour, and to talk them through with our team. Where a child would benefit from extra help, the check can identify this early, and your GP can arrange further assessment or referrals for early intervention. This health assessment is also recognised by Services Australia as meeting the Healthy Start for School requirement for Family Tax Benefit Part A, helping families stay on track while giving children the best possible start before school.

Walk-In Patients – FTMC Group does not routinely accept walk-in patients. Please book an appointment by calling (02) 6555 0444 or through HotDoc. In exceptional circumstances, walk-in patients may be assessed if a GP has availability, but this cannot be guaranteed.
