Frequently Asked Questions
Appointments
Are you a bulk billing practice?
No. We are a private billing practice. Payment is required on the day of consultation. Medicare rebates are processed immediately after payment.
Do you offer same-day appointments?
We offer limited same-day appointments for urgent medical issues. Availability cannot be guaranteed. Appointments can be booked online from 7:30am on the day, or by calling 02 6555 0444 from 8:00am.
Can I be “quickly fitted in”? I’ll only be 2 minutes.
All consultations require allocated appointment time to ensure safe, documented medical care. Even brief matters require clinical assessment & documentation. We cannot guarantee same-day availability.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes, for eligible patients. Telehealth consultations are billed at the same rate as face-to-face appointments.
What happens if I am late?
Late arrival may result in a shortened appointment or rescheduling.
Prescriptions & Referrals
Can I get a script or referral without seeing the doctor?
In most cases, prescriptions & referrals require a consultation.
How do I request a repeat prescription?
You may submit a “Routine Request” via HotDoc to your regular GP. The doctor will review your request & determine whether an appointment is required. Routine requests are not guaranteed.
Why do I need an appointment for a repeat script?
Medications require monitoring to ensure they remain safe & appropriate.
I forgot to ask for a script/referral at my appointment. Can it just be done?
Please submit a Routine Request with your regular doctor via HotDoc. Your doctor will review & advise whether an appointment is required.
Can prescriptions be sent to my pharmacy?
Yes, electronic prescriptions can be sent to your nominated pharmacy where appropriate.
Test Results
Can I get my results without an appointment?
Most results require an appointment so they can be explained properly & follow up arranged safely. Administration staff are only able to tell you the GPs comment. E.g., “No action & normal” or “non-urgent appointment & abnormal”.
Why can’t the administration team give me my results?
Administration staff are not clinically trained & cannot interpret medical information.
If I don’t hear from you, does that mean everything is normal?
Not necessarily. In most cases, you will receive an SMS from HotDoc with a secure link. Once verified, you will see whether your GP has marked your results as:
- Normal / No action required
- Abormal/ Non-urgent appointment required
If you are unsure, please contact our administration team for clarification.
Billing & Fees
Why do I have to pay on the day?
As a private billing practice, payment is required at the time of consultation.
Why am I charged for telehealth or short appointments?
All consultations involve clinical time, medical decision-making, documentation & medico-legal responsibility.
Do you charge for paperwork?
Yes. Forms, insurance reports, Centrelink documentation & medical paperwork require a booked appointment
Communication & Privacy
Why do you ask me to confirm my details every time?
For safety & privacy, we must verify your identity before discussing your health information.
I received an SMS — what was it about?
We send SMS reminders for appointments, recalls & health reminders. If unsure, please contact our administration team.
